False Positive

In regards to risk management, a false positive is a transaction that has been incorrectly identified as fraudulent.

When reviewing transaction information and looking for indicators of fraud, a merchant might err on the side of caution and decline a transaction that appears suspicious. If the transaction was actually valid, it is considered a false positive.
